As a team, we were assigned to bridge to systems with separate APIs to connect a unified employee experience for a new hotel management platform. We had about five days to research, ideation, and executing a prototype for organizing and completing tasks. Our full process included: wrote problem statements, conducted user interviews & competitive analysis, UX exploration, and prototyping.
My role was leading the design team. I worked with other designers that plan how we were going to work through this process. I focused on building the design system elements so that developers can begin building the atoms for the dashboard. I worked with 2 other designers to plan out wireframes on whiteboards and translate them into high fidelity designs.
We had two strategists that focused on collecting data from employees that use the current system. We got a great insight into the pain points and where we can focus the new experience on. The other side of the project was working through a particular use case that we had to show was solved by our new design. We found that most people find the system difficult since it is usually processed via function keys. We opted for a dashboard experience so that employees had better visibility of what was happening in hotels and also a platform that was easier to learn.
